False Creek Healthcare launches new Women’s Wellness Program

Helping women reach their optimum health potential.

Women's Wellness ProgramFor years our Executive Health and wellness assessments have been a popular way to conduct a thorough, comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s health. While available to both men and women, executive health patients have been predominantly male, so we’ve created a new program specifically tailored to the unique and changing health needs of women. To create a lifelong health care program for women, we have designed a patient-centred approach to health care, providing the most innovative techniques available in Canada. The goal of the women’s wellness program is to identify medical concerns and problems early, when disease is most easily prevented and managed.

One of the key differences from the Executive Health program is a focus on the different life stages that a woman goes through – the program is customized to meet the needs of those in their reproductive years, Peri-Menopause/Menopause, and for women who are Post-Menopausal. Contraceptive and conception and pregnancy counseling is available, IUD insertion can be performed, hormone levels are thoroughly analyzed, symptoms can be managed, and risk analysis and disease screening is done. Another difference is the addition of a registered dietitian, who will help craft a dietary plan based on the outcome of the medical testing. A premium version of the program is also available, it adds a consultation with a sexual health and menopause practitioner, a psychological/life/career counseling session and an additional 3-month summary visit to follow up and review progress on health goals.

The testing during the consultation is very comprehensive. A complete medical history and assessment is made. Abdominal, Pelvic, Carotid and Thyroid ultrasounds are conducted. Physical examinations take place for the head and neck, cardiovascular & respiratory systems, musculoskeletal, dermatological, neurological, abdominal, breast and pelvis, including pap smear. A complete blood profile is done, revealing blood count, electrolytes, kidney, pancreas thyroid and liver function, hormone levels, C reactive protein, cholesterol and screening for diabetes. Additional testing includes body mass index, lifestyle/stress assessment, visual acuity testing, complete urinalysis, metabolic syndrome screening, cardiovascular risk analysis, cardiac stress test, pulmonary function test and ECG. As a result an outcome/feedback report is generated, a lifestyle sustainability plan is made and a secure personal health record is created.

Based on a patient’s specific needs, further investigations and specialist consultations can be scheduled immediately at the patient’s convenience. With access to over 60 surgeons & specialists, and the most advanced diagnostic equipment, patients can trust that their unique health concerns will be evaluated quickly and thoroughly. We work with patients to manage these mental and physical concerns in a holistic, patient-centred approach with all of the resources and services of a state of the art medical facility.
