2013 Run for the Cure

Run for the Cure 2013 Run for the Cure 2013 Run for the Cure 2013
False Creek Healthcare participated in the annual Canadian Breast Cancer foundation CIBC 5k Walk/Run for the Cure again this year on Sunday October 6th. Every dollar raised supports life-saving research and life-changing programs, working towards a future without breast cancer.

Our team has a couple runners and several walkers, and the good weather made for a fun and gorgeous sunny Sunday morning. The run was a big success and nationally raised $1.2 million in Vancouver and $27 million across Canada for breast cancer research. The crowd was quite large, with over 6,500 participants enjoying the sunny weather and beautiful scenery while raising money to fight cancer. The route took us through Chinatown, False Creek and within a block or two of our facility before heading over the Cambie bridge for the home stretch.

False Creek Healthcare is proud to support the Run for the cure and we look forward to doing this run again. For those who didn’t attend this year we hope you can join us next year!

An estimated 23,800 women and 200 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. One in nine Canadian women develop the disease at some point in their lives. One in 29 die from it. At False Creek Healthcare we are deeply committed to women’s health and we believe that prompt and accurate diagnosis is a key part of fighting breast cancer, with our breast MRI and breast ultrasound and breast biopsy/pathology we can diagnose disease early when it is easiest to treat. On the surgical side our facility has performed breast surgeries (lumpectomy, mastectomy) as well as breast reconstruction to help women recover and get back to their lives.
