Dr. Tim Kalla obtained his B.Sc from the University of British Columbia in 1985 and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) in 1989 from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia. He then completed his residency at The Washington Hospital Centre in Washington, DC. and became a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 1993 (re-certified 2011).
In 1991 Dr. Kalla returned to Vancouver to begin a private practice specializing in diabetic foot care and operative podiatry. Since 1994 he has been on staff at Providence Healthcare where he is currently head of podiatry and part of the BC Foot & Ankle Clinic. Since 2001 Dr. Kalla has also been a faculty member of the UBC Department of Surgery, where he is a clinical instructor and an Associate member of the UBC Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Kalla has a particular interest in Diabetes, where he has served on the Canadian Diabetes Association 2008 Foot Care Guidelines Committee and in 2001 founded the Annual “Live Well With Diabetes” health care professional’s seminar and public forum. Dr. Kalla is an experienced leader in his field lecturing on the diabetic foot nationally and internationally.
