Private Family Practice

Family Practice

Our Private Family Practice was created in 2008 in response to the shortage of family doctors in British Columbia. We have limited the practice to 500 families for each family doctor. By limiting the number of patients, we have created an exclusive environment where doctors and patients are able to develop a close and trusting relationship.

What does it mean to be a False Creek Family Practice Doctor?

Our Family Practice Doctors knows each of your family members by their first names. They don’t need to quickly read your medical records while walking to your room, they know your family history and utilizes this knowledge to care for you and your family.

Our Doctors

Dr. Lauren Fineman and Dr. Tim Meakin are fellowship trained family doctors. Together these doctors have built a unique practice that our patients and ourselves are extremely proud of.

Dr. Lauren Fineman has been on staff with us for 3 years. She is also our Urgent Care Doctor and provides health services to our Executive Health program clientele. Dr. Fineman received her training at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.

Dr. Tim Meakin is a Canadian trained doctor who practiced medicine in New Zealand for many years. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from another Common Wealth country.

If you are sick of the rush and the lack of attention that often occurs in overwhelmed public walk-in-clinics, consider False Creek’s Private Family Practice. It will be an investment in your family’s health.

    Hello.
I’m looking for a family doctor & wondering about the cost to see a doctor.
Would it be covered by MSP for any kinds of health matters?
    Thanks

My daughter is 11 and suffering with really bad eczema. She is also on gluten free diet due to her celiac. She doesn’t sleep all night and her eczema is all over on her body. GP has said that this is dandruff that’s covering her whole body. Is their any specialists who can help me? And what would be cost of each visit?

Can you please tell the cost of parathyroid tumor removal? Including pre and post appointments. Also the wait time for surgery and how many of these procedures your surgeon has performed?

Hi. I’m 4 months pregnant, but was diagnosed yesterday from the ultrasound the the fetus in my womb has no heartbeat anymore.
My GP said it might have happened 2 weeks ago. I’m still waiting for a phone call from the OBGyne specialist on when
I can be checked for a DNC procedure.
My question is – does your clinic provide this assessment/procedure (DNC)? If yes, how long is the wait time before I can get the appointment? Also, how much will be the cost/fee? (How much can be covered by MSP & extended health benefits?)
Thanks. Your immediate reply will be highly appreciated.

My family physician has informed me that she is leaving her practice at the beginning of August. I am currently under treatment for hypertension, and obesity, and other related symptoms. Is your clinic accepting new patients?

Dr. Meakin was my family doctor for a few years in the ’80s and he helped deliver both my daughters. I truly missed him when he went to New Zealand to practice. He was a very calm, patient, understanding and thorough physician and I am very glad he is back in Vancouver to provide care for his patients.Welcome back, Dr. Meakin! Patti Gillis

My doctor presently has 2000 patients and does same day appointments (no wait times). With 500 families, I would like to know how many patients your GPs service. Do you charge per appointment or by the minute? How do I know I am not going to be rushed? Can I dictate how long each appointment is? Can you share with me the cost of an office visit (no investigations, labs, referrals)?

I am a healthy 58 year old male.
However, I realize at my age I should be looking at a consistent wellness plan.
I think I need a family doctor that is more proactive then reactive.

How can I find out if your services will meet my needs?

Am 58 yrs old. Good health – but family doctor has moved to another province and I have been advised to find another doctor. Am having difficulty finding a clinic or medical center that is taking new patients. Does it make sense to consider False Creek Health Care Centre? Are any of the costs covered by MSP or private EHB plans?
If not, what are the costs associated with making this my “go to” place for heath related matters?
Thank in advance for your reply.
