Vasectomy

Men from Vancouver and all across B.C. choose False Healthcare Centre because of board-certified surgeons Dr. William Taylor and Dr. John Warner. Our Urology surgeons have years of experience and excellence in performing vasectomy and vasectomy reversal surgeries.

A vasectomy is a minor surgical procedure designed to be a safe, simple and effective method of contraception. The procedure is a popular means of birth control for couples that have decided that their family is complete.

A vasectomy is performed by cutting the vas deferens (the small tube that carries sperm from the testicles). Following a vasectomy, a patient may continue to have sexual intercourse and climax as before, however, the semen no longer contains sperm and a child cannot be fathered. The procedure is intended to be permanent but may be reversed.

Each and every one of our surgeons has years of experience and excellence performing vasectomy and reversal procedures. Our pre and post operative care is exceptional, and combined with our patient centered philosophy will provide you with a positive and rewarding experience. We will help you achieve the results you desire.

What to Expect

The vasectomy procedure takes approximately 30 minutes using a local anaesthetic. The vas deferens is gathered under the skin and a single small incision is made. A small segment of the vas deferens is then removed and the ends are then sealed using electrocautery and surgically tied off. The incision may need a single, soluble suture and a small dressing will be applied.

What to expect during recovery?

There may be some mild swelling and pain which is easily relieved through medication and usually disappears within a few days. Most men can return to work in 1 or 2 days, unless their work is strenuous. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for 4-5 days after.

A vasectomy does not interfere with a man’s sex drive, ability to have erections, sensation of orgasm, or ability to ejaculate. Some men have occasional mild aching in the testicles during sexual arousal for a few months after the surgery.

My partner has a vasectomy almost 10 years ago, this was years prior to meeting me. Now in my early 30′s I am considering another child. Is it even worth it for us to consider a vasectomy reversal? Or has too much time lapsed for successfully conceiving? Thank you.

Then there have been of us who have managed to conceive in only a few weeks after vasectomy reversal surgical procedure! Exceptions do not nonetheless make the rule and statistics are at all times on the conservative side. Truth remains that the vasectomy reversal success rate will increase as the time gap between vasectomy and reversal decreases and also if a microsurgeon performs the reversal.

I am a 78 year old woman who has suffered from a UTI, in ever increasing severity and duration for the last 7 0r 8 years.
I take Warfarin and Sotolol for atrial fibrillation, and have made changes in my diet, drink large quantities of fluids, am fastidiously clean and have exhausted pretty well all the anti-biotics available with no real improvement in my condition
    Is my condition permanent?
    Thanks, B

I’ve read some discriptions on the Urology and found procedures of terms and the Andrology focuses on the male reproductive system. It is mainly concerned with male infertility, erectile dysfunction and ejaculatory disorders. It says Vasectomies are mostly urologists perform this procedure. I think this is what I need and it meets the requirements. I believe I got the ejaculatory disorders and need a vasectomy to stop this. Can you give me some inputs on this? I have come to the point that this is what I need to do.

    Hello my name is Teancum

I have been trying for some time now to get a vasectomy through the B.C. health care system. I haven’t been able to get any doctor to perform the procedure on me because I’m 23 years old. I’m well aware of what is in tailed in the procedure itself. My question to you is this; are your doctors willing to perform the surgery on me given my age? If so, what would be the total cost incurred for it all?

    Many thanks Teancum.
