Uterine balloon therapy is a new outpatient procedure to reduce excessive menstrual bleeding. Unlike a hysterectomy, which is a common treatment for menorrhagia involving the removal of the entire uterus, this procedure affects only the lining of the uterus through the application of heat.
What to Expect
The procedure is a minimally invasive treatment that typically takes under a half-hour and provides a cure for excessive bleeding in 85 percent of women. No surgical incisions are required and patients are discharged the same day. Most patients are able to resume normal activities within 2-3 days. I have a huge uterus, 16 week pregnancy size, large fibroids. Is this something that would work for me?
Can you tell me what the cost would be? Just got back from seeing my Gyno. All he wants to do is a hysterectomy.
